Country Kitchen - The Country Breakfast Bomb

The Country Breakfast Bomb from Country Kitchen is LOADED with toppings. They're not your average burger toppings, it's everything you'd find on your plate for breakfast, but it's all stacked into burger form! In between a buttery brioche bun is spicy tomato jam, crispy shredded hash browns, a juicy homemade beef patty, a breakfast sausage patty, topped with a 4 blend shredded cheese, a sunny egg, creamy hollandaise sauce, lettuce and it's finished off with a bacon slice, avocado slice and cherry tomato.

Once finished the burger, Nicole's hands were covered in hollandaise sauce and egg yolk but she wouldn't have it any other way. Both her and Ronny are big fans of breakfast food for dinner so they really savoured all the flavours on the Country Breakfast Bomb!

 Charley B's - Harvester Burger

Charley B's had a strong start as the first burger we tried for Burger Week in Morden and Winkler. Here's what is all on the burger, Indigenous Fry Bread (as the bun) - deep fried Bannock, their signature hand-pressed beef patty, wild blueberry bourbon bbq sauce, hickory potato crisps, smoked gouda, thick sliced bacon. caramelized onions, mayo, lettuce and tomato!

We asked the folks at Charley B's why they made THIS particular burger:

"Charley is part Metis and that's why we decided to make this burger. We used to make Bannock tacos and always wanted to make a burger with fry bread as the bun. Hickory, potatoes and blueberries are indigenous flavours we wanted to incorporate into the burger."

Nicole Klassen was the one who went to grab a taste of this Harvester burger and had nothing but good things to say about it!

 Flavors of Mexico - MilaQueso

A mexican restaurant that is a part of Burger Week? You bet!! Flavors of Mexico created an amazing, colourful Mexican burger. In between two grilled, cheesy, crispy flour tortillas you will find two tender juicy milanesa (thin breaded pan fried steak), topped with corn salsa, jalapenos, avacado and chipotle mayo.

When Nicole Klassen went to try the burger, Areli (pictured below) grabbed some lunch and sat with her and chatted about her family, the growth of the restaurant and the idea behind the Mexican Burger!

Here's what Nicole thought of Flavor of Mexico's contribution to burger week:

Mulligans - Big Bad Brazillion Burger

As we watched golfers hit the links from a seat with a view at Mulligans, we enjoyed the Big Bad Brazillion Burger!  A 5oz patty, cheddar cheese, peri peri candied bacon, chimichurri, pickled red onion, cumin spiced onion rings and avocado aioli on a sesame seed bun! After one bite Daemon could not stop gushing about the candied bacon! Big props to Chef Nathan on this one!

Boston Pizza - Honey Bacon Cajun Burger

It was a solo trip to Boston Pizza for Daemon Parent so he could try the Honey Bacon Cajun Burger or the “The HBC.” On this burger is a pure Canadian beef patty, locally sourced Bothwell jalapeno monterey jack cheese, honey drizzled bacon, cajun garlic-sautéed onions, fresh tomatoes, arugula, savoury cajun aioli all on a toasted brioche bun.

Daemon was a big fan of the patty on the burger, here's what else he had to say about "The HBC."

Bella's Castle - The Colossal Castle Burger

Bella's Castle served up a beautiful sirloin burger stuffed with Bothwell cheddar, caramelized onions, pickled slaw, smoked candied bacon, swiss cheese, signature Bella’s sauce served on toasted bun. The burger stuffed with cheddar was the highlight for Ronny, and he adds that the pickled slaw and Bella's sauce are a great sweet-spicy combo!

King's Deli - Sir Jalepeno Smash

A little bit of spice at King's Deli with their Burger Week contender! It comes at you on a grilled Carman bakery garlic brioche bun with a 3 Oz. King’s Deli original smash patty featuring southern meats ground beef covered in swiss cheese. Layered on top of this patty is a layer of King’s Deli’s Specialty brisket with yet ANOTHER 3 Oz smash patty covered with yet more swiss cheese. From here things get interesting with an authentic King’s deli home-made horseradish mayo. Then to top it all off we have some local hill-top Growers mustard and radish micro shoots covered in yet another King’s deli original… fresh jalapeno relish to keep you warm wherever your quest for the holy grail takes you.

You asked, we answered. Court is in session.

Chicken Chef - The Kielke Burger

Nicole said that there's one thing missing from a standard Mennonite meal, and that's CRUNCH. The Kielke Burger delivers on the crunch and on the Mennonite aspects! It starts off with a farmer sausage burger topped with kielke noodles, cream gravy, and cottage cheese that are breaded and deep fried. Finished off with caramelized onions and more cream gravy. Yum!

The Oaks - Flatlander Shrimp Burger

At The Oaks in Morden we found a blend of land and sea. They had a pacific shrimp patty delicately spiced, dynamite sauce, shredded lettuce, tomato, spicy arugula on a Keiser bun. Daemon is a huge fan of sea food, and he said "if you want to try something a little different for lunch or supper, try it out today!"

Mary Brown's - Big Mary

The folks at Mary Brown's went with an absolute classic for their burger week entry!  Theyt are featuring the Big Mary, their hero chicken sandwich! A whole Canada Grade A chicken breast, cooked golden brown and served on a sesame seed bun with cool mayo and crisp lettuce. Served with a small Taters and can of Pop. Now that's a combo that never gets old!

King Pinz Pub & Grill - The UnBRIElievable Burger

King Pinz had a great burger offering for Burger Week 2020! It starts off with a King Pinz’s smashed patty, then top it with maple candied bacon, a breaded BRIE cheese wheel topped with Morden’s apple jam and finish it off with our secret green sauce. It’s unBRIElievable! Ronny's favourite part of the burger was the combo of the apple jam and brie cheese, so good!

Iceburg Drive In - The Luau Burger

Who doesn't want to go to a luau? If you close your eyes while eating the Luau Burger will make you feel like you're at a luau! A rich, juicy beef patty grilled to perfection, accompanied by a bed of bright and crisp lettuce and savoury fried bacon. Our burger is drizzled with delicious barbecue sauce, creamy mayo, as well as an added kick from our homemade fire sauce to compliment the tropical flavours of the sweet pineapple. All topped with melted mozzarella cheese, on a fluffy Kaiser bun.

DJ's Family Restaurant - Big Ben Classic Burger

Why try to fix something that was never broken? When you close your eyes and picture a burger, you'll come up with something that looks like the Big Ben Classic Burger! This 5 oz, made from scratch, classic burger will bring back the 50’s nostalgia! The locally baked bun is dressed with mustard, relish, crispy green lettuce, fresh tomatoes topped with the classic 5 oz burger, a slice of melted cheddar cheese, topped with rings of onions. Take a deep breath … can you smell it? Order as a platter, as a side, or consider going truly nostalgic and add a milkshake! The patty made with a "secret family recipe" was the highlight for Ronny!
