The Rural Municipality of Montcalm has issued a burn ban effective immediately.

Forecasted warm temperatures and high winds in the coming days prompted the municipality to take the action. Daytime highs are expected to reach the upper teens to low twenties Friday through Sunday, with wind gusts up to 50 km/h.

The moratorium targets the intentional setting of fires in grass, brush, stubble, including agricultural burning.

Backyard fire pits are permitted, but must be supervised at all times.

The ban will be in place until conditions improve.
