Two Winkler resident are in custody facing drug trafficking charges after a Winkler Police Service investigation.

On October 27 at approximately 10:30 a.m, Winkler police with assistance from the Regional Support Tactical Team (RSTT) initiated a traffic stop on Mountain Ave and 3rd St. and two people in the vehicle were taken into custody in relation to a cocaine trafficking investigation.

That same afternoon at approximately 1:40 p.m, investigators, with assistance from the RSTT, executed a search warrant in the 1000 block of Mountain Avenue in relation to this same cocaine trafficking investigation.

As a result of the traffic stop and the search of the residence on Mountain Avenue, police seized several pre-weighed bags of cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and several hundred dollars in cash believed to be proceeds of cocaine trafficking.

A 26-year-old male of Winkler will be charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds obtained by crime.

A 33-year-old female of Winkler will also be charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds obtained by crime.

Both suspects were released on Undertakings with a number of conditions and are set to appear in Morden Provincial Court on January 12th, 2021.
