Police have made an arrest following last week's shooting incident in the Rural Municipality of Hanover.

On Wednesday at approximately 4 pm, Steinbach RCMP responded to a report of an injured male outside Bethesda Regional Health Centre in Steinbach. The 31-year-old male was suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to hospital in Winnipeg with non-life threatening injuries. According to STARS, the man was flown by air ambulance from Steinbach to Health Sciences Centre and was in stable condition.

Steinbach RCMP along with the General Investigations Section, Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Section assisted with the investigation. It was determined that the shooting had occurred at a rural residence in the RM of Hanover, near Pansy.

On Friday, Steinbach RCMP, along with Morris RCMP and the D Division Emergency Response Team arrested a 28-year-old male at a residence in the RM of Emerson-Franklin.

The accused faces the following charges:

Aggravated Assault
Discharge Firearm with Intent
Pointing a Firearm
Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace
Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited
Possession of Ammunition while Prohibited
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
He was remanded into custody.

Steinbach RCMP continue to investigate.
