Garden Valley School Division (GVSD) has confirmed their enrollment at the end of September is 4,108, down from the projected 4,577.

To date, GVSD Board Chair Laurie Dyck explains they have 610 students in homeschooling, but the Manitoba Homeschooling Department has indicated they haven't processed all the forms yet.

She notes the decrease in students would be spread out across more than 100 classrooms.

"There are implications from COVID-19 that are likely driving some numbers to homeschool or private school. And the government was expecting that and says they will be working with us on that," she says, adding those enrollment numbers are used to calculate funding for the following year.
