Provencher MP Ted Falk says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau exhibited poor behaviour in the House of Commons Wednesday. He explains they were getting ready for a vote on assisted dying legislation when tensions increased as the Prime Minister appeared to become impatient with some Conservative and NDP MPs who appeared to be standing around and stalling the vote.

"I saw the Prime Minister suddenly spring out of his seat and march over to the other end of the House where our Whip was in conversation with some NDP members. At first, I thought he was being silly, but then I noticed his stride was very intentional and then he kind of muscled his way into the gathering and grabbed our Whip by the arm and, in the process, he gave one of the NDP Members of Parliament an elbow in the chest and he physically dragged our Whip towards his seat."

Falk says Trudeau's behaviour was akin to assault.

"I think anywhere else, in a workplace or a sports venue or even just in public somewhere, that kind of behaviour would probably be likened more to assault and wouldn't be tolerated. And, especially coming from a Prime Minister in the House of Commons, I thought his behaviour was ill-conceived and unfortunate for himself because it really didn't exemplify the position that he holds."

Falk adds it appears Trudeau's temper got the better of him.

"It appears he had a moment of weakness there. He lost control of himself and thought he would take matters into his own hand and physically engaged people, which is something that we don't do anywhere, especially not in the House of Commons. But I think he lost his temper and he lost control of his faculties there for a moment and engaged in behaviour that's not appropriate."

Prime Minister Trudeau apologized his actions Wednesday and again Thursday.
