The 50th Grey Owl Golf Tournament will begin Friday at the Clear Lake golf course. 340 golfers are in the field including former champions Jack McDiarmid of Calgary, Trent Wood of Edmonton, Brandon's Murray Lindenberg and Grant Coulter, Jim Scissons of Saskatoon and eight-time defending champion Garth Collings of Breezy Bend. Six of the 106 golfers who played in the inaugural Grey Owl in 1961 will be back for the 50th. They are Laurie Artiss of Qualicum Beach, B.C., who was one of the founders, along with Wayne Hannay of Calgary, Paul Stewart of Virden, Ed Dearden of Winnipeg, and Brandon's Gerry MacKay and Bob Cornell.
