Expanded cellular and data service is coming to Plum Coulee and the surrounding area.

At its latest meeting, Municipality of Rhineland Council approved a variance to allow BELL-MTS to build a tower at a site in the L.U.D currently owned by the telecommunications company.

"We have worked very hard at lobbying at length - individual council members and council as a whole - and finally we have some good news," said Reeve Don Wiebe.

One such effort was led by resident and councillor, June Letkeman, who took action following last Thanksgiving's record-breaking snowstorm.

According to Wiebe, this tower will broadcast signals to others in the surrounding area which will in turn enhance service.

No timeline for the project has been given, but Wiebe says Council will continue to push the company to get it done as soon as possible.
