The full reconstruction of 6th St. South in Winkler is complete.

Project Manager Duane Falk explains the block between Pembina and Peters Ave was the last residential street in the city without curbs. The street was also the last to have ditches on both the East and West sides. Crews excavated the entire road and rebuilt the base before paving earlier this week.

"It's one of those that's always been a nagging issue that we wanted to clean up," he says, adding the sidewalks and landscaping are expected to be complete next year.

The new sidewalks will also maintain the new standard of six feet wide instead of the traditional four feet.

"We think it's one of the better things we've done for recreation for people in the city," he says. "It seems people really appreciate it."

The street is now paved and ready for traffic again
