A series of projects are slated to happen during 2020 in the R.M. of Montcalm.

Reeve Paul Gilmore says Council has received confirmation from the Province that the main road through town, Caron Street, will be re-paved in the coming year.

"That's excellent news for that community because it's been a promise for many many years," he said.

However, before that work takes place, Gilmore notes the sewer system along the street will be overhauled as well.

Also set to move forward in 2020 is planning for a lagoon project in Letellier.

Meantime, Gilmore says budget deliberations for the coming year have already begun, and he says the goal is to keep increases to ratepayers at a minimum.

"I think we'll be okay, but it is a challenge that's for," he said. "We want to make sure all our services are maintained and our infrastructure is up to snuff."

Additionally, Gilmore hopes to organize a strategy meeting for Council and administrators in the new year. His hope is to strategize risks to the municipality and set a direction for the next two or three years.
