Volunteering is a part of everyday life for Morris resident Charles Bergstresser.

Bergstresser is one of two Manitobans to receive the Premier's Youth Volunteer Service Award through Volunteer Manitoba.

He says it feels good to be recognized for some of the things he's contributed to in the community.

Bergstresser runs the used hockey equipment drive in Morris, and spends almost everyday at the hockey arena donating his time.

He notes as a child he was given the opportunity  to play sports, and it's only fair to give that opportunity back to other kids in the community.

Bergstresser will receive his award at a banquet April 20th in Winnipeg.

Earlier this month, the grade 12 student was presented with the Manitoba School Board Association's Student Citizenship Award for his outstanding volunteer work.
