Area residents are being reminded that there is a total burn ban in place for the Municipality of Rhineland after Plum Coulee fire crews were called out to a small grass fire Monday evening.

Fire chief, Tony Fehr, says the incident was the result of someone burning trash. He noted there were no damages as a result of the fire, and the crew was back at the hall in under an hour.

Because conditions are tinder dry, Fehr explained nuisance fires like Monday's are just that, a nuisance, and are very dangerous right now.

The total fire ban currently in place also includes the Town of Altona, and allows no burning of any kind, including in enclosed fire pits.
