A 75 year old R.M. of Dufferin man drowned Saturday afternoon after it’s believed he accidentally fell into the Boyne River behind his home.

Carman RCMP received the report around 1:45 p.m. of a possible drowning on the Boyne River on a rural property off Provincial Road 245 in the municipality. Officers arrived on scene within minutes, and were advised the Carman-Dufferin Fire Department had just removed the man from the water.

Medical assistance was provided, but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

RCMP along with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner continue to investigate.
