A high water advisory remains in effect for the south and southeastern portion of the province, as well as all areas along the Whiteshell lakes.

Manitoba Infrastructure's Hydrologic Forecast Centre says levels on rivers, creeks and lakes continue to rise as the result of all the rain in recent weeks. Pending future rain, levels along the Red and Roseau rivers are forecast to remain within their banks at all locations.

The centre also indicates all outlet control structures within the Whiteshell lakes are being operated to assist the upstream and downstream stakeholders.

These rivers are expected to crest between Thursday and Saturday.

In a news release issued Tuesday night, the Centre indicated the Red River Floodway may be activated as soon as Wednesday evening. Heavy rains over the past four to five weeks across the Red River Basin have resulted in record River levels for this time of year.

As levels continue to rise the Province may operate the floodway under Rule 4 to lower river levels in Winnipeg ahead of anticipated precipitation from a system expected to impact the region Thursday through Saturday.

Environment Canada is forecasting a Colorado Low that may bring more rain or snow to the southern portion of the province later this week.
