Brenden Walker had a five-point night with three goals and two assists as the Ste. Anne Aces defeated the Bombers 9-3 in Morden. Caleb Paisley added a pair of goals for the Aces who have won back-to-back games and cut the Bombers lead in the South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League's best-of-seven final to three games to two. William Cruise, Alex Tetrault, Joey Moggach and Tanner Harms also scored for the visitors. Tyler Peers, Andrew Clark and Adam Hughesman replied for Morden. Game six goes tonight (8 p.m.) in Ste. Anne.


The Pembina Valley Twisters dropped a 5-2 decision to the Charleswood Hawks at the Eric Coy Arena in Winnipeg in game one of their best-of-seven Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League quarterfinal. Ethan Lewis scored twice and Logan Danis had a goal and two helpers for the Hawks. Slade Sotheran and Ryan Orchard did the goal scoring for the Twisters. Game two is scheduled for Thursday in Morris.


The Winnipeg Bruins will meet the Winnipeg Wild Friday night at the Southdale Arena in game one of the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League final. Nicolas Rempel made 32 saves as the Wild downed the Wheat Kings 4-2 Tuesday night in Brandon in the fifth and deciding game of their second round series. 


Connor Hellebuyck made 29 saves as the Winnipeg Jets shaded the Arizona Coyotes 2-1 at Canada Life Centre. Nikolaj Ehlers scored on a breakaway 4:17 into the first period and Adam Lowry added a shorthanded marker seven minutes later for the Jets who won for the 40th time this season. Winnipeg will begin a three-game California road trip Thursday when they face the Anaheim Ducks. 


Canada’s Kerri Einarson has a 5-2 round robin record at the 2023 World Women’s Curling Championship in Sandviken, Sweden. Einarson, Val Sweeting, Shannon Birchard and Briane Harris lost 7-6 to Silvana Tirinzoni of Switzerland and defeated New Zealand’s Jessica Smith 10-4. Tirinzoni is alone in first place with a 7-0 record. Einarson, who is tied with Stefania Constantini of Italy for second spot, will meet Germany’s Daniela Jentsch at 8 a.m. and South Korea’s Seungyoun Ha at 1 p.m.


Manitoba champions Kadriana Lott & Colton Lott of Winnipeg Beach beat Lisa Weagle & John Epping 8-2 in their opening round robin game at the Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Sudbury, Ontario.


Major League Baseball's new pitch clock is going to undergo some timing adjustments before it is turned on for games that count. Commissioner Rob Manfred called the changes ``significant'' but also described them as ``clarifications'' based on input from players. The alterations are likely to be announced today, seven days before opening day. MLB set the pitch clock at 15 seconds with no runners and 20 seconds with runners on base.
