The Winkler Royals scored four second period goals en route to an 8-4 victory over the Portage Islanders in the lone South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League game Saturday night. Mitch Fehr and Lee Christensen had two goals each for the hometown Royals while the rest went to Marcus Neufeld, Carter Wall, Austin Wiebe and Kevin Schellenberg. Brett Brooks had two goals and two assists for the Islanders. Jens Meilleur and Jonah Wasylak also scored for Portage.

 

Liam Goertzen scored his second goal of the game with 2:04 left in regulation and Carter Sotheran potted the winner 3:28 into overtime as Pembina Valley defeated the Norman Northstars 5-4 in Thompson. Griffin Ayotte also scored twice for the Hawks who trailed 2-0 after the first period. The game was tied 3-3 after 40 minutes.

 

Kaylee Franz stopped all 20 shots she faced and Annika Braun, Jessica Anderson and Gracie Carels did the goal scoring in the Pembina Valley Hawks 3-0 victory over the Eastman Selects in Niverville.

 

Haralds Egle scored with less than a second left in regulation to lift the Manitoba Moose past the Texas Stars 5-4. Portage la Prairie’s Dean Stewart made his American Hockey League debut on the Moose blueline.
