The R.M. of Stanley has taken steps to bring the speed limit around 3 villages schools in line with the speed limit of other schools in the region and around the province.

Council has given 1st reading to a by-law to reduce the speed limit around Hochfeld, Blumenfeld, and Prairie Dale Schools.

Reeve Morris Olafson says these speed reductions are supported by the schools and the parent advisory councils for each community.

"We just had to put it into by-law form now . . . we'll put the signs up now and be consistent with the rest of the Province of Manitoba."

The speed reductions would be in place Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm from September to June.

Currently, Southwood School in Schanzenfeld is the only school in the R.M. with a reduced school speed zone.
