The Dr. C.W. Wiebe Medical Centre will soon begin the process of recruiting new doctors to the Carman community clinic. The Town of Carman and R.M. of Dufferin have entered into a long term term lease and operating agreement with the Winkler based group.

Dr. Don Klassen says one way they will apply the successes of the Dr. C.W. Wiebe Medical Centre is by ensuring there is an administrative presence in place to manage the Carman Clinic.

Klassen expects there will be growing pains along the way because the process of attracting a new slate of doctors to a community will not be an easy task. In terms of timelines on when any new doctors may arrive, he says it's simply too early to say. With that said Klassen has found over the years there are a number of key considerations potential new doctors take into account. One of the most important is being in an environment where there is a good work-life balance.

It was announced last week in a joint statement by the R.M. of Dufferin and Town of Carman the lease of the current Carman Medical Group at the Carman Community Clinic was being terminated. At that time Reeve Shawn McCutcheon stated stopping the cycle of doctors practicing in the community for a few years and then moving on was one of the primary reasons why the Town and R.M. made the difficult decision.
