Manitoba Turkey Producers has teamed up with Exceldor Cooperative to donate $10,000 worth of turkeys to South East Helping Hands food banks.

The organizations delivered over 570 whole frozen turkeys this week, which were sourced from the Granny’s Poultry plant in Blumenort.

“Thousands of families across Manitoba have been affected greatly due to the pandemic, including those in our rural communities,” said Rachelle Brown, Chair, Manitoba Turkey Producers. “We’re very excited to be partnering with Exceldor Cooperative and working with our farmers to be putting back locally produced turkey into our communities who need it most.”

The South East Helping Hands Niverville location alone has seen an increase in demand of over 50 percent.

Manitoba Turkey Producers also donated over $3,000 to Winnipeg’s Siloam Mission last week.
