A 38-year-old Winkler female, and a 17-year-old female from Roseau River First Nation, are facing multiple charges after a violent incident late Monday night.

Officers were called to a residence in the 100 block of 3rd Street South in Winkler after receiving a stabbing report, which led to them finding an injured 66-year-old male inside his home. The victim indicated two female acquaintances, known only to him by fictitious names provided by the suspects, broke in and demanded money and a ride. According to a news release issued by Winkler Police Service, when he refused and told them to leave, one suspect began pouring gasoline around the house, while asking the second suspect for a lighter. The suspects then physically attacked the victim, threatening to kill him while assaulting him with a weapon.

The male was forced to give the suspects a ride, and during the drive, continued to be physically assaulted, including being stabbed several times in the upper body. After dropping off the females, the victim called police who provided first aid until paramedics could transport him to Boundary Trails Health Centre.

Police located both suspects Tuesday and placed them under arrest. The duo now face a list of charges including breaking and entering to commit robbery, aggravated assault, forcible confinement and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
