Dark clouds hovered over Quarry Oaks Golf Course yesterday afternoon but that didn't stop golfers from taking in the 12th annual Providence College Golf Classic Tournament. Chair Gary Schellenberg says nearly 140 golfers teed off raising money for a good cause. Hoping they grossed $47,000 through the tournament.
   
Athletic Director Scott Masterson says money raised will go towards student transportation. He says the funds raised through the tournament are crucial for their sports program.
The college offers mens and womens soccer, basketball and volleyball programs.
   
Because they play a lot of games south of the border, he says they travel extensively and transportation is a big part of the sports programs.
