To help children in the community develop news skills and encourage growth, Child and Family Services of Central Manitoba Foundation (CFSCMF) decided to host an event based on the Table for 1,200 from Winnipeg.

Hosted Saturday night at the Winkler Golf Course, Table for 300 has groups of eight decorate a table, dress in white, and join 292 other individuals to enjoy conversations, food, watch the sunset, and support Chance 2 Grow.

Although the idea to sit a large group of people around a row of tables started in Winnipeg, CFSCM Foundation Administrator Nancy Funk says it was an idea they could make their own and support local kids and give them opportunities to take part in different learning experiences.

"It gives them a sense of community, probably lots of their friends are involved in things as well. It's important to have different life lessons and be involved with different adults and kids and be part of a team, or if you're taking piano lessons, it can take you down the road for different opportunities as an adult."

She says families can apply for funding upwards of $400, so their kids can take part in sports, instrumental lessons, or other educational opportunities.
