If you happen to be walking by the Winkler Civic Centre on Main Street, stop for a moment and take a look at the decorative window display on the building.

On that window, you'll see all kinds of positive messages in large print from local area students to the community at large.

Winkler Tourism and Marketing Coordinator Wendy Klassen initiated the project based on the many comments she was seeing on social media about COVID-19 and things related to the pandemic.

"As a marketing person you see all sides and I was feeling a little overwhelmed with all of the different opinions on social media. So, I was sitting at my desk thinking that now might be the time to get the perspective of a child, because they don't look at things as complex as we do. Their opinions are less filtered than an adult's version but it's often a little more positive."

Klassen says she emailed a number of teachers to see if they could get their students to come up with some positive thoughts that could be posted to the city's social media and on the civic centre's windows. The response was tremendous with over 100 students sending in hand-crafted signs designed to generate some smiles.

"I think it's an encouragement for us as adults to maybe look at a child's perspective and maybe see if we can implement some of their thought patterns."
