Reid Sloan has been named the head coach of the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League’s Pembina Valley Hawks for the 2020-21 season.

Sloan, who spent the last four years behind the Hawks U15 AAA bench, replaces co-coaches Jeff Andrews and Jeremy Winslow.

Sloan guided Pembina Valley to the 2014-15 Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League championship.

The Hawks rallied from a two-nothing series deficit and beat the Brandon Wheat Kings in the final winning game five 4-3 in overtime.

Pembina Valley was one win away from qualifying for the Telus Cup in Riviere-Du-Loup, Quebec but the Hawks season came to an end with a 7-1 loss to the Regina Pat Canadians in the West Regional final in Dauphin.

It turned out to be Sloan's last game behind the Hawks bench.

Despite winning the third championship in team history, the Pembina Valley Minor Hockey Association decided in the off-season to not bring Sloan back for the 2015-16 season.
