Warren McCutcheon says the 2020 growing season was much more enjoyable than 2019, and he is feeling better heading in to winter than he did last year.

McCutcheon wrapped up harvest on his Homewood area farm over the Thanksgiving Weekend.

"Only six months ahead of last year," he chuckled, adding it felt good to bring the season to a close after what he calls the disaster that was Fall 2019.

Overall, he has no complaints about how the crop turned out this year.

While a dry spell this summer had him a bit worried about the corn and beans, McCutcheon says the crops were able to pull out some of the ground moisture that remained from last fall to come out looking really good. He notes the corn came out fairly dry as well.

"We probably started around nineteen/twenty percent, so it was pretty easy to put through the dryer. The last fifty acres we did was straight in the bin and I think 2012 was the last time we were able to do that."

Meantime, he says it'd be nice to have a few weeks to get fall fieldwork done before the snow flies.
