Altona Police Service members responded to a number of calls this weekend relating to alcohol use, according to a media release.

On Sunday at 4:30 p.m. police were notified of a man who had reversed a car into a fence, then forward into a partially closed garage door, causing significant damage.

Police found the 67-year-old Altona man intoxicated and sitting in his car. He was arrested for Impaired Driving and was found with several full and empty beer cans in the vehicle.

The man was transported to the police station where he refused to provide a breath sample. He has been charged with Impaired Driving, Failing to Produce a Sample, and Open Liquor. He has been released from custody with a future court date.

Monday evening a witness informed police that a person had thrown a flower pot at one of the police service vehicles while parked at the police station.

Police located a person matching the descriptors they were provided in the Altona Mall parking lot. Upon their arrival, the youth began to run and police followed in a short foot pursuit.

The 16-year-old female from Emerson, who was also intoxicated, was taken into custody where she stayed the night. She also admitted to throwing a rock at a rear car window, resulting in damage.

The female has been charged with two counts of Mischief and has been released into the custody of her mother.
