A local brother duo is raising thousands of dollars for the Movement Centre of Manitoba thanks to creative new merchandise.

Brendan and Dereck Heppner recently designed a clothing brand to share their Manitoba pride thinking a few friends and family might make an order.

"The amount of support has absolutely blown our minds," Dereck says. "It caught fire and spread like crazy."

Within a few hours their goal of selling 50 hats was smashed, and they went on to sell enough to make a $4,000 donation. The Heppners chose to support the Movement Centre of Manitoba to honour Brendan's mother-in-law Sharon who lives with MS and attends the centre weekly to help with her mobility and speech. They note she's seen breakthroughs because of her hard work at the centre.

"The work that they do at the Movement Centre is truly unbelievable and the impact they have on their clients' lives is so inspiring that we decided that this would be a great way to show our appreciation," Brendan says.

Looking ahead, the brothers are hoping to launch a hoodie campaign to raise funds for their friend Corey Mazinke who was paralyzed in a diving accident last summer. The 24-year-old injured his C5 vertebrae in July 2019 and has started a journey towards recovery.

The hoodies will be for sale at the Corey's Re'Cooper'Ation fundraiser on November 23 in Morris.
