Municipalities in the region are starting to ease burning restrictions thanks to this week's snowfall providing some much needed relief from the persistantly dry spring.

As a result, the fire danger level in Winkler, Morden and the R.M. of Stanley has been lowered.

As of Monday, the posted level was 1. This means controlled burning is allowed including the safe use of burn barrels in the R.M. of Stanley, and fire pits across all three jurisdictions. As well, fireworks permits and burn permits may once again be issued.

Additionally, the burn ban has been lifted in the R.M. of Dufferin.

In a social media post, the Carman-Dufferin Fire Department encouraged residents to continue using caution while burning, and ensure a garden hose or fire extinguisher is readily available, adding fires must also not be left unsupervised.
