A Tuesday morning traffic stop in Winkler resulted in several arrests, the seizure of drugs and a number of weapons.

At approximately 11 a.m. yesterday, Winkler police pulled over a vehicle on Mountain Avenue near 4th Street, with a suspected unlicensed driver.

During the stop, police entered into a drug trafficking investigation and placed the three people inside the vehicle under arrest.

A search of the vehicle, with assistance from the Winkler Police Service K9 Unit, resulted in the seizure of a number of weapons as well as a quantity of methamphetamine and a quantity of fentanyl.

A 23-year-old male of Winkler will be charged with Possess Methamphetamine, Carry a Concealed Weapon, and Three Counts of Possess a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

A 40-year-old female of Carman will be charged with Possess Methamphetamine and Possess Fentanyl. They both remain in custody at this time.

A third female occupant of the vehicle was arrested however later released without charges.
