After nearly a decade of planning and design, a major development is on the cusp of becoming reality in Rosenort. R.M. of Morris reeve, Ralph Groening, says 200+ residential lots will soon go up on 70 aces of land south of the old dike.

The need, according to Groening, spurs from the successful business growth that's unfolded in the community.

"The businesses have shared their concerns with accommodations," said Groening. "They think, and we think, this is a perfect time for us to promote affordable housing, residential homes, multi-family homes, rentals and apartments for workers that add to the economy of the R.M. of Morris and, of course, the Province of Manitoba."

Groening added, Council is hoping to fast track the approval process.

"Council had some real concerns about any delays that might take place, and we have to make some changes to zoning bylaws, but the information for the design will be going to land titles very soon."

He hopes by next fall, there will be residential dwellings up for offer.
