Police are reminding residents to take precautions when dating online.

Morden Police Service recently received a complaint from a female stating she was being harassed by a male she met on a dating site. She notes she broke off the relationship when the male became aggressive towards her.

Police remind residents to be careful when sharing personal information on social media or online dating sites. According to police, keep personal details to a minimum:

-Don't use your real name

-Don't reveal details about where you live, work or places you're going

-Message over the app rather than giving out your phone number

-Don't feel pressured to meet someone if you're not comfortable

-Don't share images you wouldn't feel comfortable becoming public

If you decide to meet someone:

-Meet in public, stay in public. Don't meet at the person's home or invite them to yours.

-Tell someone you trust where you're going and who you're meeting

-If you feel uncomfortable, leave.

-Always trust your gut
