A man from Swan Lake is facing charges following an encounter with the Manitoba First Nations Police Swan Lake Detachment Sunday evening.

Around 6:30 p.m. police received a complaint of a male brandishing a handgun, according to a media release.

An argument had allegedly transpired between two male individuals, when the suspect pulled a handgun out of a duffle bag. The conflict continued and the man left, threatening to return and kill the other male.

Police arrived at the suspect's residence and took him into custody. He was arrested for uttering threats to kill and was brought to the Long Plain Detachment. After appearance in Portage la Prairie court the suspect was remanded in custody.

With the use of a subsequent search warrant at the suspect's residence, police recovered the replica handgun and two edged weapons.

The suspect has been charged twice with uttering threats, carrying a prohibited weapon for dangerous purpose, and three times for possession of prohibited firearm while prohibited.
