The Winkler Library will likely remain closed for a number of weeks after a pipe burst over the weekend causing extensive water damage to the facility's flooring.

Head Librarian Cathy Ching explains no books were damaged but say a reopening might take until July.

Ching notes the library foyer and meeting room received an inch of water, and seepage continued into the back portion of the facility. She adds they're still waiting to hear back from the adjuster on how to proceed.

Staff will also be backdating any books returned late as they've closed their book dropoff. "Pushing carts over wet carpets is not much fun," staff wrote in an update.

Books can still be returned at one of the South Central Regional Library's other branches or renewed online.
