A busy week of service for Winkler Police included a call about a tire going through the window of a business. This past Saturday, staff of a business on Diamond Drive in Winkler called police about the tire.

Police learned the rear driver’s-side tire came off a vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 14, rolled through the median ditch and over the westbound lanes of travel and then through the north ditch into the building.

There were no injuries as a result of this incident.

Meawhile, a female who thought she was doing something for a friend is one of the latest people to report a scam to Winkler police.

Last Monday, the female reported receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be her friend.

The alleged friend requested that she send a large amount of funds via Google Play cards by email, which she did.

When she followed up with her friend, the complainant was told by her friend that she never made the request.

Police provided the female with information to safeguard her accounts and advised her to have her computer checked by a technician.
