Good progress is being made on the Red River Bridge along PR 201 east of Letellier. Ruth Eden is Director of Structures and Design with Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation. "People driving by the site will begin to see the foundation units coming out of the ground and both abutments are going to be complete," Eden said. "They will also start seeing some concrete beams being placed on the land piers located further down the bank towards the river," she added.

The project is slated to be completed by spring 2011, but Eden says the contractor hopes to be finished before then. "We're hoping to erect part of the girders by August or September and then do the deck work over the winter. The intent is to finish off the road work by next summer, the paving and that kind of thing," said Eden. Once that's completed crews will begin dismantling the old bridge.
