Running out of space both inside and out, the Gospel Echoes Thrift Store in Winkler will be on the move in a number of months.

A new 15,000 square foot building is being built on Roblin Boulevard to replace the current 10,000 square foot location on Cargill Road.

Staff, board members, volunteers, and a number of other dignitaries gathered on Thursday for a dedication. "We're dedicating this building, this project to God," said Store Manager Dave Martens. "We would have done a sod turning, but because of Covid, we did this instead."

Martens says the generosity they have received for the thrift store, and now this project has been fantastic. He says the generosity of the community gets shown over and over, again and again.

"Not just donations to the thrift store, but also these guys (trades people & contractors). All these companies here that work with Pinnaco, and Pinnaco themselves...over $100,000 has been pledged back just from these people here for the building project." Martens says that's not including another $50,000 donation on the side, and a number of other things. "And there's probably more to come yet."

Right now, the Gospel Echoes Thrift Store is located on Cargill Road.

Martens says they have been talking about making a move for about four years now. There were a number of things that pushed them towards making the move now. He says the lease on their current building is coming up, the lack of store space, and a lack of parking for volunteers, which has always been an issue.

Money raised through The Gospel Echoes Thrift Store goes towards prison ministries.
