Now that summer has begun and students have vacated classrooms, it's time for renovations at schools across the Border Land School Division, says maintenance manager Barry Friesen.

A computer lab at Ecole West Park School in Altona will be converted into a classroom to accommodate rising student numbers.

Emerson School will receive upgrades to a staff restroom and new ceiling tiles and grids to some classrooms.

Main office renovations will take place at Ecole Parkside School in Altona and Roseau Valley School in Dominion City. The public address (PA) system and clock and bell system will also be replaced at RVS.

New gym flooring and exterior siding will be added at Rosenfeld School, and change rooms at Shevchenko School in Vita will receive a complete update, including changes to shower stalls.

And the home economics room at W.C. Miller Collegiate in Altona will gain upgrades to cabinetry, counters, lighting, and so on.

Friesen says the projects are part of the school division's regular budget and are expected to be completed by the beginning of the school year this fall.
