Winkler Fire Department was called out twice on Saturday.

The first came in around 1:23 p.m. of a small fire in a garage on Parkmeadow Drive. Crews discovered a non-cooking stove was the accidental cause of the incident. According to Chief Richard Paetzold, due to the quick actions of the homeowner, damage was contained to the appliance and items surrounding it. There were no injuries.

Then, shortly after 6 p.m., the department responded to a call of smoke in a residence on Gemstone Drive. When crews arrived it was determined smoke from a neighbour’s BBQ had entered the home through an air intake. There was no damage, and no injuries.
